Hit the High Seas! The Hammer Team - Great Escape 2004

It was sometime ago, back in 1990 when my partner & I had just finished a new home project and we decided to treat ourselves to a cruise.. It was amazing! We flew to San Juan and boarded the Celebration, Carnival Cruise ship. We sailed to st. Thomas, Guadeloupe, Barbados and St. Maarten.

A cruise is a wonderful way to travel. In our case we chose a ship and the time of year (spring break), where we had a ship full of young people who were excited about having a great time. The routine was extremely organized providing travelling time in the evenings, then early departure from the ship in the mornings.

In St. Thomas, we quicly hit the main street and did all the tourist type shopping. In Guadeloupe we hired a taxi driver and four of us toured the sites of the island. It was amazing to see the dark sand beaches, and the ruins from the volcano which destroyed a whole village! Our driver had a wonderful sense of humor and we laughed till we cried! It was a hoot!

In St. Maarten, we asked the taxi driver to take us to one of the best beaches. We ended up on Maho beach with the planes flying in over our heads, to the runway beyond. As we stood on one of the resorts patios, gazing out over the gorgeous turquoise water, I knew instantly that this was a place I wanted to return to.

The days at sea were fun in themselves. It gave us a chance to jump into our bathing suits and let the body relax in the hot sizzling sun.

The food of course, was second to none. The staff artistically prepared ice sculptures that adorned the tables. The cuisine was exquisite and of course, non stop! Make sure you go on a diet before a cruise!

The one thing I enjoyed most about our trip, was an extended stay in San Juan for a couple extra days. Believe me, we needed the rest! In San Juan we not only explored the island, but it gave us a chance to wind down and regain our "legs".

Cruising was an absolutely wonderful experience! This year, the Hammer Team is recommending you "HIT THE HIGH SEAS". We are providing a Two Thousand Dollar Gift Certificate for you to use as you wish. Take a cruise, visit an island and enjoy the sun on your face!

We're calling it "The Great Escape 2004".
